Celebrating its 20th season, the St. Lawrence String
Quartet “is first and foremost about risk-taking and
playing on the emotional edge.” (Toronto Globe and Mail). Equally devoted to the classical repertoire and contemporary
works, the St. Lawrence will perform
quartets by Haydn, Ravel and Pulitzer Prize winner
John Adams. They will give the Midwest premiere
of Adams’ String Quartet No. 2, composed especially
for the ensemble.
This activity is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnestoa State Arts Board, through an
appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund with money from
the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008, and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
